Content rules and removal
Version 0.2-draft. In force from DUMMY — date these pages take effect (YYYY-MM-DD). Last updated 2026-10-08.
In short
- Shops are responsible for what they list; users for what they send.
- No unlawful, sexual, hateful, false or copied content, and no banned goods.
- We remove content on court and government orders, on valid complaints, and when we find it.
- You can ask us to review a removal, and then appeal.
1. Who writes what
- Shops write their own shop name, photos, product list and prices. Shops may also pick product names and pictures from our catalogue. The shop is responsible for what it sells and shows.
- Users write messages, notes, voice notes and complaints.
- We do not check every item before it appears. We act when we learn about a problem.
2. What is not allowed
Nobody may post, list, send or sell anything that breaks the rules in section 7.2 of our Terms of Use. In short, nothing that:
- belongs to someone else and you have no right to use;
- is sexual or obscene, shows someone's body without consent, or invades someone's privacy;
- insults or harasses anyone, including because of gender, religion, caste, race or community;
- harms a child;
- copies someone else's brand, logo, photo or other protected work;
- you know is false or misleading, including a false price, a fake shop or a fake product;
- pretends to be another person or shop;
- threatens India's unity, security or public order, or encourages a crime;
- promotes money laundering, gambling, betting or an online game the law does not allow;
- contains a virus or harmful code;
- breaks any law in force in India.
Goods. The goods shops may not list are in section 6 of our Shop Terms. That list is the only one; it covers tobacco, alcohol, narcotics, prescription and unlicensed medicines, infant-food promotion, poisons and unlicensed insecticides, kerosene from ration shops, fireworks and weapons, wildlife, lottery and betting, and fake or stolen goods.
Spam, abuse and listings that are not a real shop are also not allowed.
3. How content is removed
(a) Court and government orders. We remove or block content on a court order, or on a written, reasoned notice from an authorised government officer as the IT Rules require. The IT Rules set the time for this (currently 3 hours). Send these to DUMMY — legal-notice email (mailbox not created yet).
(b) Complaints. Anyone can report content (see our complaints page).
- The IT Rules set how fast we must act: currently 2 hours for private or sexual images of a person or someone pretending to be a person, 36 hours for other requests to remove unlawful content, and 7 days to decide a complaint.
(c) Our own checks. We may remove content that breaks these rules when we find it.
What we may do: remove a photo or a listing, suspend a shop, or block an account. We stop an open order only for clear signs of fraud, a risk to someone's safety, or a court or government order.
4. If your content is removed
- Ask us at DUMMY — grievance email (mailbox not created yet) and we tell you what was removed and why, unless the law or the order says we must not.
- If you think we made a mistake, write to DUMMY — grievance email (mailbox not created yet) with the details, and we review it.
- You can then appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee (gac.gov.in) within 30 days.
- A shop or user that breaks the rules again and again may be removed for good.
5. What we keep
- We keep removed content, and the record of why we removed it, for at least 180 days, and longer if a court or a government agency asks.
- Removed listings, photos and products are not shown to the public. The order history and chat of a suspended shop stay visible to the customers and the shop involved, because they are the record of their orders.
- After an account is closed we keep its sign-up details for at least 180 days, as the law asks. Our Privacy Policy explains this.
- When the law requires us to report a crime, we report it.
6. Reminders
We remind all users of these rules from time to time, and whenever they change.
